Services Held For Laura Sutherland Bennett

Funeral services for Laura Sutherland Bennett were held Monday, May 10, 1976, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Patterson officiating.

Interment was in the Blair Cemetery. Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge.

Laura was born in Columbus, Indiana, January 25, 1882, to William and Lizzy Wagonner Sutherland, and passed away on Saturday, May 8, 1976 at the Crowell Home, having attained the age of 94.

She married Albert Bennett in Columbus, Indiana. They and their family moved to Burbank, So. Dak., where they lived till moving to Blair, Nebraska.

Surviving her are her sister, Mrs. Roy H. (Hazel) Anderson, seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert and her three children and Ruby, Mrs. Andrew Hansen, of Dayton, Ohio, Chester and Guy of Blair.

Pallbearers were: Stanley Jensen, Bob Bennett, James Pearson, Billy Bennett, Rolland Smith, and Jack Bennett.

Music was by Mr. Homer Nielsen and Mrs. Wayne Kirk was the organist.

Relatives and friends present from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanson of Elk Point, So. Dakota; Andrew Hanson of Dayton, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Macy of Burbank, So. Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lampert and Mrs. Lizzie Quinn, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. John Holquist, Shenandoah, Ia.; Harold Cusick and Mrs. Frances Anderson of Vermillion, So. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hanson, Soldier, Ia.; Dr. and Mrs. William Bennett, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett and family, North Platte, Robert Bennett, Ann Bennett, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Pearson of Ponca, Nebraska. ~~~ Obituary courtesy of the Washington County Genealogical Society.
