Marjorie A. Bennett, 71

Marjorie A. Bennett, 71, of Blair, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair, with a graveside service in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m.

Marjorie A. Bennett was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Scott City, Kan., to George and Mary (Finton) Bennett. She graduated from Scott City High School and attended beauty school in Dodge City. After beauty school, she worked in Dodge City.

On August 16, 1960, she married Lavern Bennett in Webster, S.D. After their marriage, she began working for Modern Beauty and, in 1970 she owned and operated Mar Bee.

She was involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Blair and also served as state President and as National Secretary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and Blair ladies bridge club.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by a son, William, of Blair; and daughter, Stephanie Moore, of Omaha; four brothers, Harold Bennett Sr. of Scott City, Kan., Robert Bennett, of Healy, Kan., James Bennett of Dighton, Kan., and Terry Bennett of Syracuse, Kan.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lavern; a brother, Ralph; three sisters, Joyce Blau, Cathy Gregg, and Mary Weibe; nephew, Todd Bennett; and niece, Toni Herring.
