Lillie Bensen, 80

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont for Lillie Benson, 80 of Fremont who died July 2, 1995 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont. Rev. Mark Grorud and Rev. David Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery at Fremont.

Lillie Bensen was born February 20, 1915 in rural Arlington. She grew up in rural Arlington and lived in the rural Arlington area until 1940 when she moved into Arlington. She moved to Fremont in 1944.

She worked as a seamstress at Rogers Tent & Awning Co. in Fremont for several years and worked at the former Mode O Day Store in Fremont for several years. In 1959, she started work at Western Electric in Omaha and retired from there in 1975.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

She married Orville L. Bensen June 16, 1934 at Glenwood, Iowa. He preceded her in death March 3, 1986.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Hannah Stranghoener Ahlmeyer; and two sisters, Elsie Hilgenkamp and Regina Cook.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Donald) Kubr of Fremont; a brother, Harvey Ahlmeyer of Ogallala, Nebraska; a sister, Irene (Mrs. Alfred) Dahlkoetter of Ogallala and a grandson, Ryan.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hilgenkamp, Rollyn Hilgenkamp, James Bensen, Duane Walkenhorst, Earl Dahlkoetter andRoger Dahlkoetter.

Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Fremont or the American Diabetes Association.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Lillie Bensen, 80, of Fremont died Sunday, July 2, 1995, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County.

Lillie Ahlmeyer was born Feb. 20, 1915, in rural Arlington, where she grew up. She married Orville Bensen June 16, 1934, in Glenwood, Iowa, and moved into Arlington in 1940 and moved to Fremont in 1944. She worked as a seamstress at Roger's Tent & Awning Co. for several years and for the former Mode O' Day in Fremont for several years. She worked at Western Electric in Omaha from 1959 until retiring in 1975. Her husband died March 3, 1968.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Donald) Kubr of Fremont; a brother, Harvey of Ogallala; a sister, Irene (Mrs. Alfred) Dahlkoetter of Ogallala; and a grandson.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Mark Grorud will officiate. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, both at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, and an hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials have been established to the church and American Diabetes Association
