Orville Berg, 76 Georgia Berg, 74

Orville Berg, 76 and Georgia Berg, 74 of Osage, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 14, 1987, of injuries received in an auto accident.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 17,1987, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church in Osage, with the Rev. Joseph Nesheim and the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating.

Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Osage.

Mr. Berg was born August 3, 1910, in Mitchell County, Iowa. The son of Hans and Mary (Nelson) Berg, he attended rural schools.

Mrs. Berg was born September 12, 1912, in Mitchell County. The daughter of Lars and Caroline (Iversen) Wamstad, she graduated from Osage High School and Normal Training in 1930.

She taught school fro seven years in the Cedar and Rock township schools.

On June 30, 1937, they were married at the Rock Creek Lutheran church, rural Osage.

He was a well-known cattle breeder and exhibitor of purebred Shorthorn cattle, and farmed his entire life in the Osage area, until retiring in 1985.

In 1982, Mr. Berg received the National Builder of the Breed award from the American Shorthorn Association.

Mrs. Berg received the Shorthorn Lassie of the Year award from the American Shorthorn Lassie Association in 1975.

Both received the Iowa State Builder of the Breed award from the Iowa State Shorthorn Association in 1986.

The Bergs are survived by two sons, Sherman Berg of Blair and Kendrick Berg of Osage, and by six grandchildren.

Mr. Berg is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Doris Hansen of Stacyville, Iowa, and Mrs. Lonnie Dammen of Osage, and by three brothers, Clifford of Marysville, Washington; Norman of Pepin, Wisconsin, and Kermis of Los Angeles, California.

Mrs. Berg is survived by one sister, Ethel Guyette of Osage.
