(veteran) Earl R. Crom, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at his residence in the Montclair Nursing and Rehab Center in Omaha. His body has been donated to science and no services are planned at this time.

Earl Richard Crom, better known as “Dick”, was born Jan. 1, 1924, to Fred and Edna Crom of Tekamah. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, from 1942 to 1946, and was engaged in many of the Pacific Island battles, including Iwo Jima.

He is survived by a sister, Patricia (Crom) Grieves; sister-in-law, Shirley J. (Lauersen) Crom of Blair; and several nieces and nephews, including Claud Crom of Omaha, who took care of his personal needs while he was living at the nursing and rehab center.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Robert, Floyd, Donald and Derald, and sisters, Molly Sklenar, Helen Golden, and an infant sister, Hester.
