Memorial services were held January 15 at the Oak Hill Community Center in Independence, Missouri for Vesta Hope Stevenson Crown, 86 of Independence, who died December 29, 1994 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Her body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

She was born in Ferris, Illinois and lived in Blair many years before moving to Independence in the late 1970’s. In Blair, she was involved in 4-H, the Arabian horse shows and in her church, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served as a deacon.

Her husband, Esmond Crown died in 1972.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Crown, Big Springs, Texas and Herbert Raymond Shelton Crown of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, Hale Stevenson, Durham, North Carolina and a sister, Wanita Hawkins of California.

A memorial fund has been set up for her at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa.
