Margaret C. Petersen, 92, of Kennard, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, in the chapel at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Interment will be in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Margaret C. Petersen was born Jan. 7, 1912, on a farm near Wagner, S.D., to Sam and Mary (Kuhr) Holstein. She attended Washington Public School. On April 20, 1931, she married Carsen Petersen at her parent’s home, on a farm near Washington.

The couple lived on their farm southwest of Kennard, where they farmed all their married life – 61 years – until Mr. Petersen’s death. Mrs. Petersen remained living on the farm until February 1988, when she moved to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

During the years the Petersens lived on the farm, Mrs. Petersen enjoyed her flowers, gardening, attending Washington County Extension Club, chorus, Art Club, and The Lutheran Ladies. Anyone who knew Mrs. Petersen will always remember her great sense of humor and her love for music and art.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Joyce Petersen of Fremont; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert Patterson of Springfield; son-in-law, Richard Jensen of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Holstein of Carlsbad, Calif.; and a sister, Erma Suverkrubbe of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carsen, in 1992; a daughter, Ilene Jensen; and a brother, Elmer.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
