Wife of Fort Calhoun Mayor Dies At Age 68

Services for Beatrice Kruger were held on Wednesday, December 31, 1969, at 2:00 P.M. at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Sackett officiating.

Mrs. Kruger was the wife of Fort Calhoun’s Mayor Paul S. Kruger.

She and her husband were on a cruise in the Caribbean, when she became ill at San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was taken to the Blair Hospital, where she underwent surgery, and passed away following complications, at the age of 68.

Beatrice Colburn was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 27, 1901, moved as an infant to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she received her education. She was married to Paul S. Kruger in 1929, and spent the remainder of her life at Fort Calhoun.

Mrs. Kruger is survived by her husband Paul, Sr., two daughters, Alice of Omaha; Mrs. Robert Anderson (Dorothy) of Ankeny, Iowa; two sons, Paul, Jr., of Fort Calhoun and Robert of Omaha.

Mrs. Kruger was a member of the Fort Calhoun Woman’s Club, the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church and the Blair Chapter of the American Association of University Women. Just this fall she had received her 50 year button as a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority of the University of Nebraska.

Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
