#1-February 13, 1913- Arlington Review Herald- Frank C. Kruger

This community was startled Wednesday morning by the announcement that Frank C. Kruger had passed away at his home northwest of town at 5:30 that morning, after being confined to his bed for only a little over three days.

A short funeral service will be held at the home at 12 o’clock (noon) Saturday, following which the remains will be take to the German Lutheran church, where Rev. Hallerberg will conduct services, followed by the interment in the cemetery near the church.

Frank C. Kruger was born on the farm on which he died, April 8, 1877, he being 35 years and 10 months old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage May 5, 1900, to Miss Amanda Scheer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Scheer, old and respected citizens of the Fontanelle neighborhood. Two children were the fruits of this marriage, who with the wife survive him. For over a year it has been known that the deceased was a sufferer from a combination of diseases, but that he was in a serious condition was not dreamed of by his relatives, and his sudden death Wednesday was a great shock to them. Only last Saturday he was in Arlington and greeted the many friends he met with the same merry smile and hearty hand shake that has made such meetings a great pleasure for many years. On returning home he complained of not feeling well, and retired to bed, never to arise again, his condition becoming worse until death relieved him Wednesday morning. He was the son of William and Hannah Kruger whose deaths together with one sister took place a few years ago. Besides a wife and two children he leaves behind one brother and three sisters as follows: F.W. Kruger, Mrs. Ed Roth, Mrs. Frank Schoettger and Mrs. Charles Laaker. Probably no member of the German society north of town had more friends than Frank C. Kruger and his death is keenly felt, and the entire community unites with the Review Herald in expressing to the bereaved family expressions of heartfelt sympathy in their sudden and sad bereavement.
