Funeral services for Roy Lee Metzler, age 96, of Blair, will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2015, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Roy died September 7, 2015, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Roy Lee Metzler was born on June 24, 1919, in Burt County to Charles and Orpha Metzler. He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Sheets) Metzler on November 16, 1938, in Onawa, Iowa. They were married 72 years, and were lifelong residents of Herman and Blair. Roy’s biggest joy was his children and his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchildren. He also belonged to the Eagles, and enjoyed bowling, camping, boating, fishing, and dancing.

He is survived by his daughter Mona and husband Charles Eriksen of Lander, TX, and daughter-in-law Lydia Metzler of Wakefield, NE, 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, sons Delbert and Darrel Metzler, and seven siblings.
