Mr. Kruse Dead at 82

COUNTIAN 64 YEARS, DETLEF KRUSE A CALHOUN ASSESSOR MANY YEARS

Detlef Kruse, 82, of Fort Calhoun a resident of Washington county 64 years, died Sunday at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, where he had been confined over three weeks. Former Fort Calhoun assessor 18 years, he had resigned that post two years ago after suffering a broken hip.

Funeral services, in charge of the Sievers Funeral Home, were conducted by the Rev. Clayton Jackson at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon. Burial was in Fort Calhoun cemetery. Pallbearers were sons-in-law and grandsons.

Native of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Mr. Kruse was born Oct. 21, 1863, and came to Fort Calhoun in 1882, when 19. He and Anna Dornacker were married in 1892. They farmed near Arlington 12 years, then moved to a Fort Calhoun farm, where they remained until moving into town 20 years ago.

Mrs. Kruse died in December, 1943.

Surviving Mr. Kruse are four daughters, Mrs. Frances Suverkrubbe and Mrs. Claus Rohwer (Violet), both of Fort Calhoun, Mrs. Emil Tietgen (Dorothy) of Carroll, Neb,, and Mrs. Robert Eddee (Myrtle) of Storm Lake, Ia. Other survivors include a brother, Fritz Kruse of Omaha, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Presbyterian Church, Fort Calhoun for Detlev Kruse, 82, longtime Washington County resident. He died early Sunday morning at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. His health had been failing for the past several weeks.

Born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany October 21, 1863 he came to this country with his parents in 1882. He was married March 10, 1892 to Anna Dornacker who passed away December 23, 1943.

Four children were born to his union. They are Mrs. Frances Suverkrubbe and Mrs. Claus Rohwer of Fort Calhoun, Mrs. Dorothy Tietgen of Carrol, Nebraska and Mrs. Myrle Eddie of Storm Lake, Iowa. Besides his four daughters, the deceased leaves to mourn his passing 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Except for fifteen years when he lived near Arlington he has made his home in the Fort Calhoun vicinity, most of which time he was engaged as a farmer. He and his wife moved in 1924 to Fort Calhoun from their farm west of there.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Fort Calhoun and was the secretary of the Woodman of the World Lodge. For many years served as assessor in the Calhoun neighborhood.
