Rites Held Saturday For Emil Kruse

Lifetime Resident of Fort Calhoun Died Thursday

Funeral services were held Saturday for Emil Kruse, lifetime resident of the Fort Calhoun community, who died Thursday following a heart attack.

The services were held at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Norman Fowler officiating, with Masonic rites at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery with Harold Swanson officiating.

Mr. Kruse had driven to a friend’s home to visit. When he stepped out of the car he suffered a heart attack. The Blair Rescue Squad was called and rushed him to Memorial Community Hospital.

Mr. Kruse was born July 1, 1898 on a farm southwest of Fort Calhoun. In 1929 he obtained employment at a grocery store in Fort Calhoun, later purchasing the store. He retired from business last spring.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha; daughters, Mrs. William Head of Fort Worth, Texas and Miss Donna Kruse of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; a brother, Gus Kruse, of Omaha; sister, Mrs. Edith Knag of Fort Calhoun.

Pallbearers were William Stratbucker, Walter and Alvin Ohrt, Arthur W. Clausen, George Rohwer and John Wiese.

The Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
