Elvin W. Kruse, 75

Funeral services for Elvin W. Kruse, 75, of Blair, formerly of rural Bennington, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery. Mr. Kruse died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Elvin W. Kruse was born April 20, 1926, on a farm south of Kennard to Emil and Dora (Schroeder) Kruse. He attended the Mattes School.

On June 3, 1945, he married Helen Rosenbaum in Kennard.

He entered the service in August of 1945, serving in Korea in 1946. He was discharged on Jan. 29, 1947.

Mr. Kruse farmed south of Kennard, and also did carpentry, drove a milk truck for Kennard Transfer, sold seed corn and insurance for Farmers Mutual Insurance of Washington County.

Mr. Kruse was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 366 in Kennard, and Papio Valley Preservation Association. He served on the Dornacker School Board, Washington County Planning Board, and Washington County Security Patrol.

Besides his love of farming, he enjoyed carpentry, especially cabinet making, dancing, polka and waltz music.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Brostad of South Sioux City, two grandsons, a brother and sister-in-law, Vern and Mildred Kruse of Kennard, sister-in-law, Judy Rosenbaum of Sidney, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
