Ernest Kruse, 79, Died Saturday, December 2nd

Ernest August Kruse, lifetime resident of the Ft. Calhoun vicinity, died last Saturday, December 2nd at the age of 79.

He was known as a farmer and a stockman and as a citizen active in many civic affairs.

He was born February 9, 1893, on a farm near Ft. Calhoun to William and Minna Kruse. He was a member of a family of eight children.

He attended school at Ft. Calhoun and was a graduate of the Ft. Calhoun High School.

He was married to Dorothy M. Seltz on December 24, 1926, and they made their home in Ft. Calhoun. He farmed and was active in the feeding and raising of cattle. He took part in a number of civic affairs. For a number of years he served as City Treasurer and he was a member of the school board. At the time of his death he was President of the Ft. Calhoun Cemetery Board.

He was an active member of the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church. He served as Trustee of the church from 1933 to 1944 and as an Elder from 1944 until his death. He is a past Master of the Ft. Calhoun Masonic Lodge.

His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death in March, 1966.

He is survived by a son, Gordon, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and by a daughter, Beth Cecil, of Columbus, Nebraska. Two brothers survive. They are Hugo, of Omaha and Waldo of Ft. Calhoun. Mrs. George Neale of Ft. Calhoun is a sister.

There are four grandchildren, Larry and Karen Kruse of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Greg and Kristin Cecil of Columbus.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 5th at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church and burial was made in the Ft, Calhoun cemetery. The Rev. Keith Sackett conducted the services and burial was made under the direction of the Sievers Mortuary.
