Services For Gus Kruse Are Held Monday

Funeral services were held at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun on Monday, May 19, 1980, for Gus Kruse who passed away on May 16th. Prayer services were held Sunday night, officiated by Pastor Don Lovell. Pastor John Eveland officiated at funeral services and interment was made at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. Pallbearers were Kim Cox, Kevin Kane, Phil Flott, Harry Lund, Jim Knag and John Szawicki.

Gus was born to John and Lena Kruse on August 13, 1901 at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. He spent his childhood in Fort Calhoun. On October 3, 1928 he was united in marriage to Irene Elizabeth Cox. To this union was born three children: Don who lives in Oklahoma City, Dan from Omaha and daughter Darlene (Mrs. Mike Knierien) from Los Angeles.

Gus and Irene moved to Omaha in 1931 where he was a barber for 24 years. In 1954 he went to work for the Omaha Board of Education until his retirement in 1967.

Gus passed away at home after a short illness, He is survived by his two sons and daughter, brothers and sister-in-law, Nell and Richard Larsen of Fort Calhoun. Seven grandchildren, Karen Whitmore, Diane Borzobohaty, Danny Kruse, Jennifer Kruse all of Omaha; Sal and Teri Knieriem, Los Angeles and Gus Kruse, Oklahoma City, and one great grandson.
