SERVICES FOR DUANE ARTHUR HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services for Duane K. Arthur of Fremont were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the First Congregational UCC Church in Fremont. Rev. Norman Pavey officiated with organist Mrs. Ruby House and vocalist Mrs. Elaine Cady. Military graveside services were conducted by the Arlington VFW Post 8332 and American Legion Pot 71. Burial was at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.

Duane was born June 21, 1920 in North Bend to Lloyd and Millie (Beznoska) Arthur. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in England and Europe during World War II. He married Eunice Brown of Arlington June 11, 1950. In 1952, the couple moved to Fremont, where Duane was a 30-year employee of the George A. Hormel Company. He retired in 1982, and also owned and operated Arthur’s Kirby Vacuum Sales and Service in Fremont. He was a member of the Fremont Fraternal Orders of the Eagles Post 200, the Retired Hormel’s Employee Association; and the Arlington VFW Post 8332.

Survivors include his wife Eunice; three sons, David of North Platte, Douglas of Denver and Daniel of Fremont; one daughter, Diane Arthur, and his mother, Mrs. Millie Arthur, both of Fremont; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Pople of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Alfred Alian, Louie Foltz, Claude Springer, Richard Kubalek, LaVerne Krueger and Charles McKenzie. Memorials may be sent to the Congregational Church or to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association of Omaha. Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremont handled the arrangements.
