Hugo Kruse, 77, Of Ft. Calhoun, Died Friday, Oct. 26

V. Hugo Kruse was born on April 19, 1896, at the farm home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kruse, Sr. and passed away at the age of 77 years, 6 months last Friday.

He attended Grade School at District 49, Washington County and in 1972, he, with three surviving classmates observed their 60th anniversary of their Graduation from the Fort Calhoun High School. In June 1918, he was inducted into the U.S. Army of World War I, and served for a short time.

On August 18, 1926, he was united in marriage with Helen Sierk, and to this union three children were born, Jeanette, Robert and Eugene. They began farming in Douglas County on the farm homesteaded by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stattenberg and in August of 1972, was honored to receive the Nebraska Pioneer Farm award issued by Ak-Sar-Ben. He retired from farming at the age of 66 years because of ill health. He served on the school board of District 20 for many years, and as a committeeman on the A.S.C. Board. He was a member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church and filled an office for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen and children and grandchildren: Roland and Jeanette Miller and four children of Omaha; Robert and Margaret Kruse and 2 boys of Melpitas, California and Eugene and Joy Kruse and 5 children of Pender, Nebraska. One sister Pauline (Mrs. George Neale) and one brother, Waldo of Fort Calhoun and numerous other relatives and friends.
