Irene Kruse, 87

Irene Elizabeth Kruse, 87, formerly of Omaha; died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roeder’s Mortuary in Omaha. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Mrs. Kruse was born September 8, 1910, at Missouri Valley, Iowa to Bruce and Chloe Cox. She moved with her parents to Fort Calhoun as a child and grew up and attended the Fort Calhoun schools, graduating from Fort Calhoun High School in March, 1928. She then attended California Beauty School. On Oct, 3, 1928, she married Gus Kruse at Council Bluffs, Iowa. During World War II, she was a welder at Paxton Verling and Eaton Manufacturing, making pontoons for the Navy. She retired from Snow Company in 1966. She lived in Omaha until she moved to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in June, 1996.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Evelyn Kruse, Omaha; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Robert Johnson, Lakewood, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Cecil Nelle and a brother-in-law, Richard O. Larsen, Fort Calhoun; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus, in May, 1980; a son, Don in 1996; and a brother, Billie, in 1960.
