Mrs. John Kruse

After an illness of several years Mrs. John Kruse passed peacefully away at her home in Ft. Calhoun Dec. 11. The day before her death Mrs. Kruse had been up and around the house, but in the evening she suffered considerable pain, and about midnight dropped into a sleep. At 7:30 the next morning her daughter Pauline found that her mother was sleeping the sleep that knows no awakening, the end coming peacefully and without a struggle.

Lena Tietgen was born Jan. 18, 1873, near Florence, Nebr., and most of her life was spent in Washington county. On March 25, 1891, she was united in marriage to John Kruse. To this union were born three boys, Louis, Emil and Gus, and three girls, Mrs. Edith Knag, Emma and Pauline. All are living except Emma, who passed on eight years ago.

Mr. Kruse died Dec. 18*, 1912. Besides her children Mrs. Kruse is survived by four brothers, one sister, nine grandchildren and several other relatives.

Mrs. Kruse was known and beloved by a large circle of friends, who mourn the departure of this splendid friend, neighbor and mother.

Despite the bad roads and intense cold a large number of friends attended the funeral services, which were conducted by Rev. Kurtz at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.
