Services Held For Mrs. Fred Kruse

Martha Emma Kruse was born to John and Edith Neuhaus on October 10, 1898. She was baptized at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on January 22, 1899 by the Rev. Emil Gehrke. After having been instructed in the teachings of the Christian faith, she was confirmed at Zion on March 16, 1913. The Rev, H. Rottman was pastor then.

On Christmas Day 1917, Martha was married to Fred C. Kruse. This union of almost sixty-one years was blessed by God with the birth of four children.

Mrs. Kruse was a faithful wife and devoted mother. She was active in a variety of community and church organizations. She was a 4-H club leader, a member of the Harmony Workers Extension Club; she belonged to the ladies’ aid organizations of the three churches to which she and Fred belonged: St, Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, Ne., St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, Ne., and Zion.

Fred and Martha farmed in Douglas County from the time of their marriage until their retirement in 1943. Afterwards they lived for a time in the Benson area and in Arlington until they built their new home on 132nd and Maple Sts. in 1960.

Stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage, Mrs. Kruse died Friday, November 24 at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 14 days.

Mrs. Kruse was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Gustave Neuhaus; one sister: Mrs. Sophie Fischer; an infant son: Herman Harlan; and one grandson: Kent Marvin Kruse.

She is survived by her husband Fred of Omaha, two sons: Raymond of Blair, Ne., and Marvin of Tecumseh, Ne. and one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Bonnie Lou) Martin of Arlington. Also by 6 grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews as well as countless friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 14205 Ida, Omaha. Pastor Albert G. Engler officiated. Mrs. Joyce Johnson of Bennington played the organ and Mrs. Rose Nyquist was the soloist. Burial was a Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Services are Held Saturday for M. Kruse

Mrs. Eric Knudsen attended funeral services for her aunt, Mrs. Margaret Kruse, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington on Saturday morning.

Memorials were received for the Building Fund of Zion Lutheran Church and for individual favorite charities.
