Funeral For Mrs. Kruse Held In Herman

Services for Mrs. Mathilda Kruse were held Wednesday at the Herman Legion Hall. Pastor Zack Kleinsasser of the Herman Federated Church was in charge of the service. Pallbearers were Emil Maas, Randall Brodersen, Frank Brodersen, Richard Toelke, Clinton Smith and Kenneth Kruse. Concluding service was at the Herman Cemetery.

Edna Mathilda Toelke Kruse, was born to Hannah and Carl Toelke on November 12, 1912, and died on December 31, 1973, at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She grew up in the Telbasta Community and lived in the Herman Community the rest of her life.

She was married to Walter Kruse on December 1, 1935. To this union five children were born: Eugene Kruse; Bonnie (Mrs. Charles Brodersen); Gary Kruse; Jane (Mrs. Steven Linn) and Kristy, who preceded her in death. There are 12 grandchildren; one, James Charles Kruse preceded her in death.

Edna was confirmed and became a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Winslow. Walter and Edna were engaged in farming west of Herman for a number of years, until they moved to Herman, purchasing the Herman Market. Here Edna worked, serving the public, being very kind to the many children who came to the store daily. Wally and Edna sold the store a year ago, after serving the public for a number of years.
