NEIL R. ASCHE, 50

Services for Neil R. Asche, 50 of Lincoln and formerly of Columbus, who died September 22, 1992 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, were Saturday, September 26 at Grace Episcopal Church in Columbus.

Neil R. Asche was born July 25, 1942 in Huntley, Nebraska to Otto and Louise Jurgens Asche. He attended Republican City High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968. He received his masters degree from Kearney State in 1976.

He lived in Mt. Vernon, Washington until moving to Columbus in 1978, where he lived until 1990. He then moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa where he lived until moving to Lincoln in August, 1992.

He served in the Air Force from 1962-1966 in the 818th Medical Group. He was a guidance counselor after completing his education.

He belonged to the Nebraska professional Counselor’s Association, South-West Iowa Counselor’s Association and was a member of the Lions Club while in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church.. He was ordained a deacon November 8, 1985 in Omaha. He served as deacon at Grace Episcopal Church in Columbus and at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair.

He married Mary Scheurich October 8, 1966 in Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Lincoln; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Melissa Asche of Kearney; a son, Doug Asche of Kearney; one grandson, Austin; four brothers, Wesley of Omaha, Kenneth of Ogallala and Wayne and Dalo, both of Republican City and two sisters, Janis Zachery of Holdredge and Gwen Larson of Maple Valley, Washington.

Memorials may go to Grace Episcopal Church in Columbus or St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair.

Gass-Haney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
