Ernest Suess

Ernest F. Suess, 88, of Flagstaff, Ariz., formerly of Fremont, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Olivia White Hospice in Flagstaff.

He was born July 30, 1919, on the family farm near Elkhorn to Reinhard and Dora (Peterson) Suess. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Elkhorn High School. He then farmed with his father south of Arlington. He later farmed near Yutan and then west of Blair. He retired in Fremont and then moved to Flagstaff to live with his son when his health declined in 2006.

He married Madeline Katt on Oct. 11, 1944, in Tekamah.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont and was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum.

Survivors include: his wife; a son, Ron (and wife, Sharon) Suess of Flagstaff; a daughter, Mary Ann (and husband, Ted) Sonderegger of Lincoln; grandchildren, Ryan and Keely Suess, Justin Suess, Tom Sonderegger and Kristin and Peter Somers, and two great-granddaughters, Emma and Ellie Suess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with family receiving friends from 5-7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
