RANDALL ASHLAND, 49

Funeral services for Randall Ashland, 49, of Blair, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Randall Ashland was born June 18, 1956, at Fairfield, Iowa, to Ronald and Betty (Mann) Ashland. He moved to Blair at the age of 12 and graduated from Blair High School in 1974. He was very active in high school sports, where he set a pole vault record as well as passing records in football.

He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a degree in agricultural business.

On July 2, 1982, he married Bev Batenhorst.

Through the years, Mr. Ashland worked in business sales for various companies, including Stauffer Chemical, R.S. Stover, Precision Bearing, and Mellen and Associates. He was most recently employed at Applebee’s in Fremont.

He had a passion for nature and for animals. As a teen ager, he had trained a squirrel named O.J., which he kept for four and a half years. More than anything, he loved his four children, who were the pride of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Bev; children, Ivy, Lee, Luke and Tanner; and his parents, Ron and Betty Ashland, all of Blair.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

VISITATION will begin 12 PM Monday with family receiving friends 6 – 8 PM at funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
