ROBERT F. ASHMORE, 71

Robert Frank Ashmore, 71, of Oakland, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2000, at the Integrated Health Services in Lyons.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. The Rev. Steve Hopple officiated. Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery.

Military graveside rites were provided by American Legion Post # 215 and VFW Post #6926 of Decatur.

Robert Frank Ashmore was born on April 11, 1919, in rural Decatur to Clyde and Mildred I (Hightree) Ashmore.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 16, 1954. Mr. Ashmore was a member of the Church of Christ in Blair.

He is survived by his sisters, Alice Ashmore of Oakland, Ruby Jaber of Blair, Pauline Schider of Lincoln, and Betty Ashmore, and his brothers, Melvin Ashmore of Grand Island, Wayne Ashmore of Norfolk and William Ashmore of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland was in charge of arrangements.
