Mr. and Mrs. William Hart came down from Wisner to attend the funeral of their father John Curley.

Last Friday morning at four o’clock occurred the death of John Curley, Sr. He had been in failing health for about a year. He was one of the pioneers of Washington county and will be greatly missed in this vicinity as he was king hearted and sympathetic, always ready to help those in distress or bereavement. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. The funeral was preached in Herman by Rev. McFarland and the interment took place in the cemetery there. The Modern Woodmen of which he was a member took charge of the arrangements.

James Curley of Gretna a brother of John, Curley, deceased, accompanied by his daughter Rachel, were present at the funeral, also Mrs. Johnson a sister of Mrs. Curley.
