Services for Martha Lucinda Cushman, 74, who died Oct. 30, 1996 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebr., were Mon, Nov. 4, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Martha Lucinda Cushman was born Feb. 20, 1922 in rural Blair to Otto and Lizzie Christ Mencke. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

She attended Summers School and Blair High School, graduating in 1939. She worked as a waitress and at the U. S. Brush Factory when it was located in Blair.

She married Edward Cushman, Jan. 22, 1955 at Louisville, Nebr.

In early 1965, they started the Blair Disposal Service. They operated that business until October, 1974. They purchased a restaurant and lounge in Newport, Nebr. in February, 1975. In October 1980, the business was sold and an acreage was purchased on the outskirts of Newport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gertrude, Delores, Minnie, Pearl, Betty and Sophie; a brother, Donald and a son-in-law, John Luce.

She is survived by her husband Ed; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam of Blair; daughters and son-in-law, Carol of Pleasanton, Nebr. and Shelly and Vern Hubers of Wausa, Nebr.; grandchildren, Mikki Cushman, Shane Cushman, Aaron Luce and Logan Luce; sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma Hartley of Tacoma, Wash.; Norma and Roy Rapp of Benson, Ariz.; Barbara and Bill Aronson of Overland Park, Kans.; and Helen Hineline and Opal and Willard Warrick, all of Blair; a sister-in-law, Betty Carnes of Blair; several nieces and nephews and friends.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
