Russell B. Cushman, 65, of Lecanto, Fla., died from colon cancer on Dec. 24, 2003, at his home.

Cushman was born Aug. 5, 1938, in Blair. He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force, worked for the Civil Service, Philco Ford in deep space tracking and retired from the Illinois Institute of Technical Research Institute at age 60. He moved to Lecanto in 1999.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice; two sons, Gerald Cushman of Ventura, Calif., and Richard (and wife, Rochelle) Livoni of Williston, Fla.; two daughters, Gwen (Mrs. Scott) Reed of Westlake Village, Calif., and Denise (Mrs. Stephen) Orr of Hernando Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Norma Cushman of Sonora, Calif., Thelma (Mrs. William) Cell of Westminster, Colo., and Donna (Mrs. Jack) Shanks of Leesburg, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness, Fla. Burial was held at Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness, Fla. Burial with full military honors was in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
