DIED-On Saturday-Nov. 21, 1891, Orin Custard, of cancer of the face

Oris (Orin ?) Custard was born in Erie County, Penn., March 24, 1821. In the summer of 1842 he moved to Michigan, and in the year following married Frances Vanderhoof. In the winter of ‘67 he was converted and joined the M. E. church. He has been a useful and faithful member of the cause ever since. In 1868 they moved near Logan, Iowa, and in ’78 again moved to Smith county, Kansas. The past two years were spent in Nebraska. He died in Coffman, Neb. Nov., 21, 1891, from a cancer in the face. It has been growing for about four years, the last two of which it was running sore and caused untold suffering. But he bore it patiently and calmly waited death, knowing it would bring eternal rest. The funeral took place at the house on Monday, Nov. 23rd, conducted by Rev. Millard, pastor of M. E. church, Blair, Neb.

He had raised a family of nine children, eight boys and one girl, all of whom with his wife survive him except one boy who died four years to a day before him. He was interned in the Calhoun cemetery.

(There is a discrepancy regarding his first name: Oris or Orin ?)
