PIONEER CALLED TO REWARD

Wm. Voss, pioneer settler of this county, answered the call of the grim reaper Tuesday afternoon at about four o’clock. He had been out with his sons who were doing the spring butchering and on returning to the house he collapsed and was gone, a victim of heart trouble.

The deceased was past eighty years of age and had been in poor health for some time, but the end came in such an unexpected way that it was a shock to the whole community in which he had lived for so many years.

Mr. Voss was born in Germany and came to America in his young manhood, settling first in Cleveland, Ohio and in the 70’s coming to this county where he purchased a farm in the southern part of the county where he continued to reside until his death.

The wife died twenty years ago last November, and since that time he has lived with the children who have shown him the kindest consideration and during his declining years have been a great comfort to him.

Six daughters and three sons are left to mourn him. They are Mrs. Mary Petersen of Central City, Neb.; Mrs. Emma Tietgen, Mrs. Minnie Breckenfeldt and Mrs. Dora Rosacker, all of Burke, So. Dak.; Mrs. Lizzie Micheel and Mrs. Martha Soll of Cavour, So. Dak.; and Will (Jr), Otto, and Benhard of this county.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 P.M. at the home of the son, Benhard, where he had made his home and interment is to be made in the German Cemetery.

(A penciled notation gave this information: “Per German Cemetery records: name, Wilhelm Joh. T., b. 6 Oct. 1844 - d. 24 Feb 1925. Buried Blk 11 Lot 2.”)
