David Kruse Is Buried In Wayne

Funeral services were held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wayne, Nebraska, on Monday, February 7, for David Raymond Kruse, who died February 3, 1983, after a long battle with Crohns Disease.

The Rev. Daniel E. Monson officiated. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

David Raymond Kruse was born June 3, 1942, in Omaha. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard.

He lived on a farm ten miles south of Blair and attended Wranch Grade School. He graduated from Blair High School in 1960, where he was active in football and basketball. He was Home-coming King and played in the Shrine All-Star football game his senior year.

He attended Dana College where he played football and basketball. After attending a computer school in Omaha he worked for Blue Cross – Blue Shield.

He moved to Wayne in 1966 where he worked at Wayne State College. In 1976, he began working at Waldbaums in Wakefield as head of the computer department.

He married Ann Dumkrieger on August 13, 1966, in Royal, Iowa. They made Wayne, Nebraska their home.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; and daughter, Kimberly Ann, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kruse, one brother, Gerald of Omaha; and one sister, Mrs. Gerald (Marti) Fegter of Omaha; two grandfathers, Paul Kruse and Fred Kruse, both of Omaha; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dumbrieger of Linn Grove, Iowa; and a host of relatives and friends also survive him.

Active pallbearers were Phil Lorenzen, Robert Sutherland, Roger Lentz, Neil Swanson, Vern Schulz and Gary Toft. Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Rohwer, Allen Swanson, Paul Kruse, Renick Martin, Greg Toft, Keith Bull, tom Kruse and Art Dugan.

Mrs. Jim Hummel was organist, Keith Kopperud was soloist.

Memorials are being accepted for medical research or the Kruse family choice.

Hiscox-Schumacher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
