Herman J. Kuhl, 79

Herman J. Kuhl, 79, of Herman, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services were Wednesday, March 8, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Herman J. Kuhl was born Jan. 28, 1921, to Henry and Mary (Steffen) Kuhl in Elkhorn. On Nov. 20, 1945, he married Vivian Sullivan in Little Rock, Ark.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from October 1942 to January 1946. He farmed south of Blair all of his life, retiring in 1995. He raised turkeys and livestock.

He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Diane Kuhl of Norwalk, Iowa; Gary and Sandy Kuhl of Herman; Tom and Emily Kelley of Blair; John and Ginny Kuhl of Garnerville, Nev.; and Ronald and Michelle Kuhl of Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Kelly of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two brothers, Emil and Hans Kuhl, both of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian, who died in 1996; a son, Harvey in Vietnam; a granddaughter, Terri; one sister and one brother.
