Paul Kuhls, 86

Services for Paul Kuhls, 86, of Fremont will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 21, 1987, in Fremont at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy Gierke will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation is at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

He was born March 5, 1901, on the family farm near Herman to Henry and Louise (Stork) Kuhls.

Paul was married to Edna Kuss September 21, 1927, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow. They farmed near Herman. Edna died March 23, 1960.

In 1970, Paul moved to Fremont, and December 8, 1970, he was married to Bonnie Hodges Nickles, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Bonnie died December 8, 1984.

Paul lived in Arlington with his daughter, until he moved into the Skilled Care Center in Fremont in January, 1986.

He was a member of Fremont’s Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Donnie (Ardeth) Sperling of Arlington; three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Hulda Bartling of Hooper, Viola and Esther Kuhls of Omaha.

Memorials are suggested to his church or to the Daily Chapel Radio Broadcast, carried locally by KHUB in Fremont.

Paul F. Kuhls was born March 5, 1901 in rural Herman. Her was born again as a child of God in Holy Baptism on March 24, 1901, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow, and reaffirmed his baptismal vows there in the Rite of Confirmation on March 28, 1915.

Paul married Edna Kuss on September 21, 1927. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1960. He married Bonnie Hodges Nickles on December 8, 1970. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1984.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Donnie (Ardeth) Sperling, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and by three sisters, Hulda Bartling of Hooper, and Viola and Esther Kuhls, both of Omaha.

Paul was received into life eternal on Saturday, October 17, 1987, at the age of 86 years, seven months and 12 days.

Paul’s mortal remains will be laid to rest on the 21st day of October, 1987, at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

This is the earthly record of Paul Kuhls. The heavenly record now reads, “Blessed are the dead who died in the Lord, that they may rest from their labors.” (Revelation 14:13)
