ACCIDENTALLY KILLS SELF

LeRoy Olson, aged seven, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Olson who live northwest of Blair, was accidentally shot last Sunday with a .22 calibre rifle and died fifteen minutes later before medical aid could reach him.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson and Leroy and Chas. Devore and family were spending the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Raver and it was at the latter's home that the accident took place. It seems that a Devore boy and young Olson were out playing and went into a shed where the rifle had been laid. Boy-like they commenced playing with it and it was during this time that the gun was discharged, the ball entering the abdomen, and death following a few minutes later.

The rifle had been placed in the shed in order that children would not be able to get it and it was presumed that the magazine had been emptied.

LeRoy was a bright little fellow and was an only son, and his untimely death was a sad blow to his fond parents. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.

A very sad accident occurred at the Jack Raver place, about 4 1/2 miles south of Herman, last Sunday afternoon. Elvin LeRoy, the seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Olson, was accidentally shot and died within half an hour. Mrs. Olson and the children had gone over to Raver's for a visit. Elvin and Devall's little boy found a 22-calibre rifle in the granary and in some was it was discharged and the bullet went clean through his little body just below the navel. He became unconscious in a few minutes and before Mr. Olson arrived he was dead. The funeral was held at the Olson home at 2 o'clock yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Olson have two daughters, aged 10 and 14, but this was their only son. They have the sympathy of all who know them in their sudden and bitter loss.
