Services are Held for Elsie Kunneman

Funeral services were held at Bethany Lutheran Church Wednesday, April 27, for Elsie Kunneman, 86, who died April 24, 1983, in Omaha.

The Rev. Larry Arganbright and the Rev. Daphne Hamborg officiated. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Elkhorn.

Elsie Dorthea Kunneman, daughter of Marcus and Louis Ehlers Otte was born September 4, 1896, at Chalco, Nebraska. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Elkhorn on what is now the sight of Mount Michael and attended District 41 School.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith as an infant and was confirmed March 16, 1913, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bennington.

She married Otto H. Kunneman at the family home near Elkhorn on April 10, 1918. They farmed northeast of Elkhorn for 25 years, before retiring in Elkhorn in 1943.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn and the Faith Circle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, in 1954; two grandchildren, Larry Zimmerman and Vonnie McIlrath; one sister and six brothers.

She is survived by five daughters, Arlene Zimmerman of Blair; Evelyn Paul and her husband Charles of Blair; Leola Ohm, and her husband Ed, of Elkhorn; Alice Hollins, and her husband Buzz, of Fremont; and Marilyn Kentopp, and her husband Bill, of Falls City. Thirteen grand-children; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Boettger of Irvington; one brother, Rudolph Otte of Millard; and numerous other relatives and friends also survive her.

Pallbearers were Charles Clawson, Dennis Dau, James Elsberry, John Gilroy, Douglas Ohm, Michael Perrin, John Robertson and Jay Wheeler. Mrs. Den Saeger was organist.
