Fred A. Olson, 73, of Craig died Friday, July 17, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services were Monday, July 20 at the Craig United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Pam Schinck was the organist.

Pallbearers were John Price, Wayne Westergaard, Kevin Olson, Eugene Westergaard, George Wollen and Dennis Westergaard.

Burial was in the Craig Cemetery.

Fred Allen Olson was born March 9, 1925, in Washington County to Edwin A. and Fern H. (McDonald) Olson.

He graduated from Hooper High School in 1942.

On Dec. 21, 1944, he married Roberta V. Schaeufele in Fremont.

He was a lifelong farmer. He operated a dairy farm from 1950 until he retired from dairying, in favor of his son, in 1988. He continued to help in the crop operation until 1996, when ill health forced his retirement.

He was a member of the Alder Grove United Methodist Church, where he was baptized in 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of Craig; a daughter and son-in-law, Sansha and Stan Landholm of Oakland; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Leta Olson of Craig; four grandchildren, Jeff Landom and Nichole Landholm Chambliess, both of Hooper, and Penny and Kalee Olson of Craig; two great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Norma Olson of York; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Brian.

Memorials are suggested to the Craig United Methodist Church or Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland was in charge of arrangements.
