DOROTHY MARIE (HANSEN) LEEHY, 69

Former Blair resident Dorothy Marie (Hansen) Leehy, 69, of Norfolk, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be at the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Leehy was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Fremont to Marius and Carrie Hansen. She attended Blair schools and Dana College in Blair.

On April 30, 1950, she married John “Jack” Leehy, Jr.

She was an active member of her church, school, and the Blair community for many years prior to moving to Norfolk in 1978. Mrs. Leehy was known by many in northeast Nebraska for having worked with students enrolled in the Youth Employment Training Program. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Sacred Heart/St. Mary’s Altar Society. Mrs. Leehy also served on the Family Self-Sufficiency advisory board for the Norfolk Housing Authority.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; son and daughter-in-law, John J. III, and Terri Leehy of Louisville, Ky.; daughters, Mary Clare Johnson of Redmond, Wash.; Patricia Woten of Omaha; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Jim Cook of Blair; Katie and Stan Mencke of Tekamah; son-in-law, Patrick Flynn of Norfolk; step-mother-in-law, Maureen Leehy of Blair; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Hansen of Blair; Glen Hansen of Arvada, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ellen Flynn; grandson, Aric Johnson; and brothers, Roger, Stanley and Karl Hansen.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
