Services today for Leo Sully

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, for Leo Francis Sully at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ft. Calhoun. Father James Schwertley officiated. Burial followed at the Holy Cross cemetery in Blair.

Born March 1, 1931 to Joseph B. and Frances M. (Schenk) Sully in Blair, Leo died Thursday, Dec. 13, in Van Wert, Ohio at the age of 53. He worked for Schumm Plumbing and Heating for the past 14 years. He was a member of the Van Wert Moose Lodge and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Sully lived in Blair and worked for Kelly Ryan Manufacturing, Blair Supply, Carlson Plumbing and Chapman Plumbing until moving to Ohio in the mid 1960’s.

Survivors include his wife Penny (Gabriele) Sully, sons Kevin Sully of Las Vegas, Richard Sully and Gregory Sully, both of Van Wert; daughters Cheyrl Vahle of Albuquerque and Pamela Christensen of Omaha; sisters Sister M. Elizabeth Ann Sully of Omaha, Mary Miller of Blair, Patricia Nichols of Zion, Illinois and Ruth Laverty of Millard; brother Louis B. Sully of Ft. Calhoun; stepsons Doug Hester of Bloomingdale, Illinois and Duane Hester of Jackson, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kevin, Richard, Gregory and Tom Sully, Tony Christensen, Pat Laverty, Mike Miller and Doug Hester.

Honorary pallbearers were Tim Sully, Joe and Dave Miller, Don Conrad, E.T. Thompson, Dick Nielsen, Ron Hineline, Dick Kruse, Paul Johnson, Bill Bennett, John Bennington and Richard Noska.

Memorials are suggested to the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin or St. John’s Catholic Church. Campbell Funeral Home handled the arrangements in Blair.

Rev. J. A. Siefker conducted services in Ohio.
