Wilbur J. Austin, 72, of Blair, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in Blair.

A military graveside service was Monday, July 26, at Greenwood Cemetery in York.

Wilbur J. Austin was born Aug. 30, 1926, to Floyd and Emma (Potter) Austin in Norfolk.

He graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In August 1968, he married Katherine Clifford in South Dakota. He also lived in Eddyville and Sumner.

He was a mechanic for most of his life and sold automotive products for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Yvonne Austin of Staplehurst, and Thomas and Ginger Austin of Blair; daughters, Sandra Bryan and Susan McGinnis, both of Blair; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chris Austin of California.

Metz Mortuary in York was in charge of arrangements.
