Neva Mae Kuhr, 80

Neva Kuhr, 80, of Blair, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, due to complications from pneumonia.

Services were Monday, Nov. 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Neva Mae Kuhr was born Nov. 16, 1919, to John and Hattie (Bisbee) Frain of rural Grove Town-ship in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Griswold, Iowa, and briefly attended Peru State Teachers College for additional accreditation. She taught school for eight years.

On April 6, 1946, she married Lloyd Kuhr in Blair. They resided on a farm northeast of Orum for over 40 years until retiring to Blair in 1987.

She joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum in 1956, and taught Sunday School there for 23 years. She belonged to the Papio Merrymakers Club for 34 years and was a charter member of the Washington County Genealogical Society. She spent many hours researching her family history in libraries and through correspondence. She was an avid letter-writer to friends and relatives throughout the United States.

She is survived by a son, Steven, of Blair; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Anne and Steve Hultman of Crescent, Iowa; and Sherry and Richard Harlow of Papillion; two sisters, Norma Frain of Carson, Iowa; and Eva Gay King of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and two brothers, Hollis and Lawrence Frain of Carson, Iowa; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the National Kidney Foundation.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
