Gladys Fern Kult, 94

Gladys Fern Kult, 94, of Glidden, Iowa, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at St. Anthony Nursing Home.

Services were Monday, March 27, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Gliddon, Iowa, with Father Merlin Schrad as Celebrant. Burial was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.

Gladys Fern Kult was born Oct. 5, 1905, to Claude and Jessie Maude (Zimmerman) Plumley, in Ralson, Iowa. As a young girl, she lived on a farm and attended school there.

On Oct. 26, 1927, she married William Bernard Kult at the Catholic Church Parsonage in Lidderdale, Iowa. They farmed six miles south of Ralston. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Glidden, Iowa where she worked for Father Robert Dougherty. She then worked for him in Cherokee and Sibley as well. She then moved to Carroll, Iowa for a short time and later retired in Glidden, Iowa.

She had been a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home for the past three years.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden and the Women’s Guild of the Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Elaine Kult of Cherokee, Iowa and William and Kay Kult of Climax Springs, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gerald; a sister, Lola Fisher; two brothers, Raymond and Leland; twin granddaughters, Kathleen and Kathryn Kult; and two great-grandsons, Jerome and Christopher Wolterman.
