SHIRLEY AUTZEN

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of funeral services for Shirley Alice Autzen, 88, who passed away at Blair, Nebraska on March 8th. The funeral was held at the funeral home in Fort Calhoun, on Monday, March 10th, and burial was made at Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Dr. Russell Palmer officiated and music was furnished by Carol Sprick, organist. Pallbearers were Larry Krause, Byron Krause, Mark Krause, Bob Diefenbaugh, Mike Holmstedt, and Hans Mommsen.

Shirley A. Autzen was born June 16, 1897 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. She attended school in Litchfield, Nebraska. Later she moved, living in Fort Calhoun and Blair, Nebraska.

Shirley married Elmer Diefenbaugh in 1918. To that marriage was born two sons and three daughters. Elmer passed away in 1937. She was remarried in 1942 to John Autzen and they farmed near Fort Calhoun, and also farmed near Blair until retiring and moving to town.

Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, her husband, John, and his daughter, Mildred Jensen. Surviving are her daughters, Lois Kiebors and Peggy Martin, both of Ventura, California; Fern Krause of Valley; Margaret VanDeusen of Omaha; sons, Dale Diefenbaugh of Fort Calhoun and Don Diefenbaugh of Lakeside, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and a host of friends.
