Ruby E. Olson, 101, of Arlington, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Monday, May 24, at the Arlington Community Church. Interment was at Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha.

Ruby E. Olson was born Nov. 8, 1902, in rural Genoa to John and Mary Nelson. She lived in Columbus and worked for Bell Telephone Co. as an operator for five years.

On Dec. 15, 1922, she married August Olson in Columbus. After their marriage, the couple moved to Omaha. Mrs. Olson moved to Arlington in 1985.

She was a member of the Arlington Community Church and the Ladies Aid at the church, as well as the Arlington Multi-Purpose Senior Center; she was a former member of the Benson Church of Christ.

She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Hultman of Arlington, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August, in 1971; brothers, Albert and Kenneth Nelson; sisters, Mildred McKelvey, Alice Brandt, Lena Kissel, Verna Arnold, Esther Thomas and Carol Anderson.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
