OLSON SERVICES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Olson will be at 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, August 1, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Rev. Kurt Sortland will conduct the service accompanied by organist Clare Cowing. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery.

She was the daughter of the late John and Effa (Brown) Blodgett. She was born Sept. 20, 1901 in Beatrice and died Monday, July 30. She was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Olson in 1967.

Surviving relatives include daughters Mrs. Reynold (Patricia) Kubie of Blair and Mrs. Howard (Marilyn) Johnson of Lebanon, Oregon, 11 grandchildren, brother Forrest Blodgett of Blair, sister Mrs. O.E. (Ethel) Gauger of Grant, sister-in-law Jerene Olberg of Northfield, Minn. and brother-in-law Waldo Carlson of Sumner, Wyoming.

Ruth Harmona Olson was born September 20, 1902 in Beatrice, Nebraska to John and Etta (Brown) Blodgett. She attended grade school and high school in Beatrice, where she graduated. In 1931 she graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan with a B.S. Degree. She also did graduate work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

After moving to Blair, she taught in the Adams, Nebraska and Blair elementary schools. Mrs. Olson served as principal in the elementary schools for a period of time.

She was a member of the Willard Sorority, Charter Member of the AAUW, Federated Woman’s Club, Rose Society, First Lutheran Church and Honorary Life Member of the NSEA.

On June 1, 1935 she was united in marriage to Rufus Olson. To this union two children were born, who survive: Mrs. Reynold (Patricia) Kubie of Blair, and Mrs. Howard (Marilyn) Johnson of Lebanon, Oregon. Also surviving are six grandchildren; one brother, Forrest Blodgett of Blair; and one sister, Mrs. O.E. (Ethel) Gauger of Grant, Nebraska.

The family extends an invitation to join them for lunch immediately following memorial services.
