Blair native Sylvia J. Olson, 71, of Fremont, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at First Baptist Church in Fremont. Interment will be in Fremont's Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Moser Memorial Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to services.

Sylvia J. "Sody" Taylor was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Blair to Harold and Tillie (Dunn) Taylor. She grew up in Blair and was a graduate of Blair High Shcool. She moved to Fremont in 1958, where she worked at Snow's Camera and also did babysitting in her home.

On Feb. 21, 1960, she married Merton L. Olson in Blair.

Mrs. Olson was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont and the Hands for Christ Circle. She was known for her baking abilities.

She is survived by her husband, Merton; sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Gary McCoy of Fremont; sister-in-law and husband, Ardis and Kenneth Giles of Elsmere; brother-in-law and wife, Virgil and Shirley Olson of Boulder, Colo.; niece, nephew and great-niece and great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
