Vera Bessey, 63

Vera L. Bessey, 63, of Arlington, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services were Monday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Rev. Shirley Schmidt officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha.

Mrs. Bessey was born May 21, 1934, in Omaha to Harry and Mary (DeJong) Gladwin. She grew up in Omaha. On July 3, 1953, she married Wayne Bessey at Council Bluffs, Iowa. After her marriage, she lived in Omaha and Kennard before moving to Arlington in 1969.

Survivors are her husband, Wayne; sons and daughter-in-law, Dale and Chari Bessey of Valentine, Neb. and Dwayne Bessey of Hemet, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Mike Metcalf of Plattsmouth, Neb; Annette Bessey of Omaha; Carol and Dan Hynek of Uehling, Neb.; and Ann and Todd Nielsen of Blair; a sister, Mary Wipf of Omaha; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Hany Gladwin, Jr.; and a sister, Johanna Willis.

Pallbearers were Todd Nielsen, Jay Brichacek, Dan Hynek, Dave Kathol, Dale Nattress and Mike Metcalf.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
