Little Girl Dead

Tuesday morning Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Andreasen received a telegram announcing the death of little Bertha Sontum, at Brush, Colorado, whose death was due to rheumatism and heart trouble. She was eight years old, and was an adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sontum, the foster mother being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andreasen and was Anna Andreasen before her marriage. Mrs. Sontum died several years ago and the husband remarried but kept the little girl until her death.

The remains arrived in Blair on Thursday, where interment was made.

2nd obituary, printed May 3, 1916 in the Pilot, Blair, Nebraska

Bertha, aged 8 years, 4 months and 25 days, died at the home of her father, A.T. Sontum, near Brush, Colorado, on April 25th, and Mr. Sontum brought back the body here last Friday for burial. The funeral took place at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Andreasen at two o’clock, Rev. Lang officiating. The little girl’s mother died in Bruce, Wis., about three years ago.
