Faith (Bergquist) Sundberg, 86

Faith Sundberg, 86, of Fremont, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the Elim Lutheran Church in rural Hooper. Interment will be in the Swaburg Cemetery in rural Hooper.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. at Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Faith Nellie Sophia Sundberg was born Aug. 5, 1917, at Swaburg, rural Hooper, to Allen and Ellen (Monson) Bergquist.

She graduated from Uehling High School in 1936 and attended Luther Junior College in Wahoo, where she received an associate degree.

On June 20, 1939, she married Donald Sundberg at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Hooper.

Mrs. Sundberg was a life-long member of Elim Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir, helped with Sunday School and was a member of the WELCA.

While living in the Craig area, she was a 4-H leader and served on the Burt County Extension Board, was a Y-Teen Mother and a Cub Scout Leader. After retiring to Uehling, she was active in the senior citizen’s organization and the Golden Hour Club.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and William McNail of Edmonton, Wash., Cathering and Neil Danberg II of Omaha, and Mayre and Gene Wray of Scotia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Debra Sundberg of Ames, Iowa, and Mark and Luanne Sundberg of Arlington; 15 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Darlene Bergquist of Uehling; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sisters, Naomi McNairy and Eunice Johnson, and a brother, Eugene Bergquist.

Memorials are suggested to the Swaburg Cemetery Association of the Elim Lutheran Church.
