Services for Thelma Sunds held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Sunds, 75, of Arlington were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Arlington Community Church. Rev. Francis Belote officiated with organist Mrs. Ruby Rose. Burial followed at the Elk City Cemetery in Elk City, Nebraska.

Thelma was born Sept. 13, 1909 in Washington, Nebraska to Willie and Mayme (Seeley) Jefferson. She grew up in the Washington area. She married Albert C. Sunds Feb. 15, 1928 in Omaha. They farmed in the Washington area for six years, then farmed southwest of Bennington, then south of Arlington before moving to Arlington 17 years ago. Thelma was a news reporter for the Arlington Citizen for 16 ½ years. She just recently retired.

Thelma was a member of the Arlington Community Church and the church’s Ladies Circle. She died Friday, April 5, at the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the church or the Arlington Rescue Squad. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Glen Jefferson.

Pallbearers were Warren Sunds, Merle Bassett, Dick White, Leonard Schmidt, Don Warner, and Lloyed Rohwer. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Knudsen, George Misfeldt, Richard Melvard, Oscar Scheer, Henry Frye, Virgil Frye, and Ken Rhoades.

Her husband Albert survives, with daughters Mrs. Carl Dean (Bonnie) Buhl of Valley and Mrs. Jim (Virginia) Frye of West Point, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
