Mary V. Brainard, 93 years, of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Fremont, NE died Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood, IA.

Mary was born September 12, 1922, in Washington, NE to Ross and Mary(Krajecek)Marshall. She grew up in the Arlington, NE area and attended District 5 Parcel Lake School, east of Fremont for 8 years and then attended Fremont High School. She lived north of Valley, NE until moving into Arlington in 1955. She worked for the Arlington State Bank for 4 years and then for Robinson Seed Company in Waterloo, NE from 1966 until retiring in 1987. She lived at Waterloo from 1978 until moving to Valley in 1982. She then moved to Fremont in 1987 and had been living in Council Bluffs, IA.

Mary was a member of the Arlington Community Church in Arlington. She also was a member of the Happy Hour Bunco Club and a card club. She enjoyed Nebraska Football, her grandchildren's sporting events and quilting. She loved to travel including: Australia, Alaska, Canada, Netherlands, Panama Canal, and every state except Hawaii.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Henry and Liane Brainard of Council Bluffs, IA, James and Etta Brainard of Omaha, Gil, Jr. and Marilyn Brainard and Tom and Tanya Brainard, all of Cedar Bluffs, NE; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vesta Jensen and Lorraine McNeil; brothers, Gordon and Mark Marshall; and former daughter-in-law, Virginia Brainard. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, October 31 2015 at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington. The Rev. Penny Greer and The Rev. Tony Paff will officiate. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and on Saturday at church 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery at Arlington, NE. Memorials may be given to the Arlington Community Church. Family is requesting those attending the service to wear Nebraska attire.
